The Penn State Alumni AssociationWhat’s been happening: After graduating from PSU with a B.S. in Animal Science I followed my heart and worked for the Erie Zoological Society for 9 years as an animal keeper. I have plenty of stories to tell, but my dream job made life tough getting by paycheck to paycheck, so I finally had to "grow up" and get a "real job". In 1996, as God would have it, I found my way back down to State College PA when I was offered a job working as a patrol officer for SCPD. By 2001 I was thrown back into the animal world as I accepted the position as the department's K9 Officer for their first and only Police Dog - K9 Harro. K9 Harro retired in 2007 and I am now paired with the department's second dog, K9 Keno. The many dogs in my life are my four legged kids. With the help of many local dog lovers and other police officers we started a group called The Working K9 Association of Central Pennsylvania (WKACP). The WKACP supports Search & Rescue, Police and other Emergency K9 teams who serve the people of Central Pennsylvania in times of need. I guess God knew where he wanted me. Being back in Happy Valley makes me think of my dear college friends, though many of whom I have lost track of - Tammy, Sharon, Steve, and Danny to name just a few. I miss all of you! Look me up! I can't score football tickets, but I can certainly put you and your families up for the weekend if you aren't allergic to dogs! |
